Jay is living the good life. He and his parents are employed at the best theme park and resort on the planet while things get worse outside. People come to Karloff Country to escape the problems of the world, but everything changes in one night when his friend Connie and her family disappear, normal tourists leave, and the Trustee families arrive. Chaos and violence reign outside of the park while workers inside must serve the Karloff family and their guests who begin using and even brutalizing the workers. Jay, Zeke, and Seychelle become determined to find out what happened to Connie and overthrow their oppressors even if it means risking their lives and the lives of their families. The Getaway is an original dystopian novel that may appeal to those who enjoy in-depth characterization and description.
