The Cheerleaders

A few years after five cheerleaders died within one month of each other, Monica begins to question the circumstances of her older sister's death. Two cheerleaders were murdered, two died in a suspicious car accident, and Monica's older sister supposedly committed suicide. The alleged murderer was shot and killed by Monica's step-father at the scene of the crime and never faced a trial. When Monica picks the lock on her step-father's desk drawer, she finds anonymous letters he's been receiving about the murders as well as her sister's phone. Monica, along with the help of a fellow student on her dance team, decide to investigate. More than just a murder mystery, The Cheerleaders is excellently paced, making it hard to put down. Monica is realistically portrayed as someone who still grieves for her sister and is unwilling to settle for easy answers.
