Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You

In this adaptation of Ibram X. Kendi's national bestseller, Stamped from the Beginning, Jason Reynolds examines the roots of slavery in America as well as how racism has persisted even after slavery ended and African-American men received the right to vote. The book, written in a conversational tone makes the topic easy-to-understand for teens, outlines the important events, people, and dates, but as the author points out, "This is not a history book. I repeat, this is not a history book. At least not like the ones you're used to reading in school" (1). And it's not. The writing is interesting and conversational. This is an excellent book for those concerned with racism and its history.
