Fatal Throne: the Wives of Henry VIII Tell All

In this historical fiction novel written by several award-winning authors, King Henry VIII and his wives come alive in striking detail as each author writes from a different viewpoint portraying each wive's excitement at the possibility of becoming queen of England, her fear of being set aside for another woman, and her shock at how wrong she has been treated, either through divorce or execution. M.T. Anderson skillfully displays Henry's sense of entitlement and desire for, not only a submissive wife to adore and entertain him, but a male heir which often caused him to spurn wives due to their inability to produce one. Not only are the wives and their personalities deftly imagined by authors such as Jennifer Donnelly and Candace Fleming but the details of the lavish palaces, clothing, jewelry, and other important people such as Thomas Cromwell are excellently rendered. Readers will find themselves stirred to empathy for each wife no matter how innocent or foolhardy.
