Afterward by Jennifer Mathieu

Dylan Anderson, a young boy with Autism, is kidnapped and found a few weeks later. Amazingly Ethan Jorgenson, a fifteen-year-old who disappeared four years earlier, is also found in the home of the kidnapper. Soon Caroline, Dylan’s older sister, wants to find out why Dylan is screaming much more than he used to and saying the same phrase over and over again. She decides the only one who can answer her questions is Ethan, but can Ethan help her when he’s suffering from PTSD and can’t remember much of what happened? In this well-researched and beautifully written novel, Jennifer Matthieu accurately portrays the life of a trauma victim struggling to put the pieces of his life back together through counseling and the support of those around him.
