Warrior Girl Unearthed

Perry Firekeeper-Birch was looking forward to slacking off for the summer and spending most of her time fishing, but then she has to find a way to earn money to pay for the repairs to her auntie's jeep after a minor wreck. Luckily, she's able to join some other teen members of her tribe for some tribal internships, and they dub themselves Team Misfit Toys. During her internship, Perry discovers a non-native who lives on her island is holding onto the bones of several of her tribe's relatives, and she and the rest of Team Misfit Toys decide to stage a heist. Their plans are put on hold, however, when one of them is kidnapped.

Warrior Girl Unearthed is a realistic, though at-times suspenseful, novel that sheds light on the reclaiming of Native American remains and artifacts as well as the extremely high number of missing and murdered indigenous women.
