When Maddie's father, a secret service agent, saves the President's wife from being kidnapped by a Russian gang at the White House, her father is shot and they retreat to the Alaskan wilderness, separating Maddie from her best friend Logan, the president's son. Six years and many unanswered letters later, Logan is sent to joint Maddie and her father due to his reckless behavior. However, Maddie is not the same frilly ten-year-old girl he knew. Instead, she's now a beautiful sixteen-year-old who chops wood and has mastered serious survival skills such as fishing with panty hose. She does little to hide her anger with the now handsome Logan for not responding to her letters. However, when the Russian gang responsible for tearing them apart kidnaps both Maddie and Logan, she is forced to use her skills and creativity to ensure their safety. Of course, along the way, the two have time to talk about the past. Fans of Ally Carter's I'd Tell You I Love You But Then I'd Have to Kill You series will be quick to notice a resemblance between the two heroines who are both quick-witted and tenacious!
