Laz Weathers is a senior and the best pitcher in the history of his inner city school when the new principal decides to cut the baseball program. His hope in being noticed by scouts is renewed, however, when another local school lets him play for their team. When the trailer park he lives in is sold, and a teammate's parents offer to let him live with them, he's torn. Does he move in with his teammate, so he can keep playing or move further away to stay with his mom and his little brother Antonio, who has been hanging around a lot with a local drug dealer?
