Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine

Twenty-nine-year-old Eleanor Oliphant is the epitome of social awkwardness. She chooses her wardrobe based purely on practicality, always dressing sensibly and rather plainly; she hasn't even had a hair cut since she was a child. She speaks her mind (no matter how rudely her opinions may come across) and she thinks that socializing with others is highly over-rated. She leads a solitary life and only seems to talk to people when required. Then pudgy cigarette-smoking Raymond is hired as the IT specialist and he has her doing things such as helping him rescue a man who has fallen unconscious, visiting his elderly mother with him, and going out to lunch. As Eleanor starts questioning who she is and her beliefs about others, she begins a transformation and realizes it's time to confront her past, a past that involves a horrendous fire which has left her physically and emotionally scarred. At times laugh-out-loud funny and often bittersweet, Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman is a highly original novel that readers while find difficult to put down!
