Have you ever felt lonely, like no one can notices you...unless you do something embarrassing? Maybe you constantly feel self-conscious, not knowing whether it's better to be invisible or to be noticed by others? That's what it's like to be Evan Hansen. His anxiety progresses to the point that he sees a therapist and takes anti-anxiety medicine. When his therapist asks him write a letter to himself that ends up falling into the hands of a boy who commits suicide named Connor, Evan is not only noticed by everyone, he becomes popular for being Connor's "best friend" even though he hardly knew him. Evan becomes wrapped up in the lie, gaining new friends, the girl of his dreams, and a father figure he desperately wants, but if the truth comes to light, he stands to lose all that he has gained. Based on the Tony-winning musical, Dear Evan Hansen demonstrates the isolation felt by those who have no real friends and how quickly lies can spin out of control, especially when social media is involved.
