Feyre didn't realize that the large wolf she killed in the woods while hunting was actually a fairy, creatures that had once enslaved humans and now lived mostly beyond the invisible wall. She soon realizes her mistake, however, when a fairy named Tamlin comes to claim her life in exchange for the fairy's life she took. According to the truce between humans and fairies, he can either kill her or bring her back to live beyond the wall. Having no wish to die, she accompanies him back to the spring court but discovers that she is no slave but is treated like a guest and is welcome to explore the majestic court. She dare not try to escape though. Terror lurks outside in the shape of evil creatures, and she soon learns that a wicked fairy named Amarantha has subjugated high fey of the other courts and threatens not only the spring court but humanity as well. Filled not only with action and romance, A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas is a highly imaginative work with a heroine that is realistically flawed but resilient!
